Nuremberg Day Tour from Munich in English
Explore one of Germany’s most historic cities on our Nuremberg Tour: fully guided, hassle free, and with train tickets included in the tour price. Visit a truly extraordinary place, where reminders of Europe’s past are woven into the fabric of the city.
For almost 1,000 years, Nuremberg (Nürnberg in German) has played a decisive role in Germany’s fortunes. From the Holy Roman Emperors to the German Renaissance, from the Third Reich to modern Bavaria, this city has seen empires rise and fall. We’ll fill you in on all the city´s history, but also take you to the colorful Marketplace, the center of Nuremberg since the 1300s, and show you where you can get the famous Nuremberg grilled sausages and so-called “Red Beer” or amber lager. You’ll have free time to explore the Old Town, take in the view from the Imperial Castle Courtyards, visit the beautifully restored gothic Church of St Sebald, or just relax over a leisurely lunch and soak in the atmosphere.
After the lunch break, we’ll take you to see the darker side of Nuremberg’s history at the former Nazi Rally Grounds. On the southeast side of the city, Hitler’s architect Albert Speer planned and began to build what was supposed to be the “Temple City of the Third Reich”. Here the Nazis paraded for the saluting masses as well as the propaganda films, creating some of the most infamous images in human history. You’ll stand in the middle of some of the largest Third Reich ruins left in the world as your guide explains how the city confronts this difficult history today. Not sure if that’s something you want to experience? No problem. Anyone who wishes can simply have free time in the Old Town instead.
